Paulina Nowak

I am a bilingual therapist, qualified at a postgraduate level in Interpersonal Dialogue at The University of Edinburgh (2017). I am working towards accreditation with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhering to their ethical codes of practice. I am also continually developing my knowledge and understanding of psychotherapy, especially research around complex trauma and attachment theory.

Since 2016 I have been cooperating with various organisations like Feniks, PF Counselling and Napier University offering long-term psychotherapy and short-term counselling. I also run a private practice. I work as an Integrative Psychotherpist. I have been utilising my training as a psychotherapist, my studies of philosophy with a focus on existentialism and gender together with diverse work experience from three European countries. This allows me to meet clients struggling with self-care, procrastination, depression, identity, anxiety, but also clients who are living with effects of traumatic experiences.

In the therapeutic process I will invite You to explore the complexities of your experience by offering empathic understanding. The exploration will focus on your thoughts, feelings and how those are reflected in your body. Bringing in the Person-Centred side of the Interpersonal Dialogue facilitates co-creating with You the conditions in which change is possible. The Psychodynamic part of the dialogue will guide our understanding of the past and how it is influencing your present in conscious and unconscious ways.

My interest in how we cope with childhood traumas, perhaps neglect or abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) fostered my research (and practice) around suicidal ideation as a coping strategy and helped me achieve a Master’s in Counselling from The University of Edinburgh (2019).

I resource myself and my practice by exploring meeting places of nature and nurture; searching for meaning(s) and by following my interests in story-telling, art and movement-based practices.
