More about Active 50+
Active 50+ group was started in 2016 as a part of the Community Champions project. The participants of the project noticed that people over 50 from Polish communities would face obstacles when trying to meet new people or engage in various activities, which often led to social isolation, lower levels of wellbeing and health problems
From the start, the group offers to its members the involvement in different meetings and activities, such as walks, museum visits, art workshops, cooking meet-ups, language classes, etc. The members of the group also engage in the yearly Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) and other events organised by the local institutions.
Please see some comments from the group members about their thoughts about the group and the role it plays in their lives:
“Coming across the Active 50+ group was, apart from the birth of my grandchildren, the best thing that happened to me in Scotland”.
“Thanks to being in the group I had the chance to meet new, wonderful people, who were always there to help.”
“A fantastic group of people in the mature age, who are still eager to do so much: meet others, gain knowledge, try new challenges. In short, my friends through good and bad.”
“Thanks to the group I don’t feel alone and I always know that I can find support there.”
