PROJECT FINISHED
Together Towards Health: Feniks Is Seeking Volunteers for a New Peer Support Project.
Feniks, in cooperation with Move On/Change Grow Live (CGL), South East Recovery Hub in Edinburgh, is launching a new program based on the “peer support” model.
Together towards health. The Peer Support Project offers a new path in the recovery process. Its recipients are the Polish community with experiences of mental health problems, addictions or trauma related to domestic violence.
The project was created to help people in mental health recovery by building relationships between them and those with similar challenges. People who have regained balance can play an essential role as allies, offering support and understanding to others. By promoting a community based on equality, respect and shared experiences, we strive to improve the well-being of those beginning the recovery process.

What is “peer support”?
Peer support is not therapy, nor is it just going out for coffee. It is a form of emotional support in which people who have experienced mental health problems, trauma, domestic violence, or addiction offer a conversation with others to support their recovery process.
It’s an opportunity to share your experiences with someone who will understand them.
Who can become a peer support volunteer?
The project is open to all Polish women and men who have direct experience in the recovery process related to mental health challenges, addictions or the trauma of domestic violence and want to use it to help others.
No special qualifications are required, but personal qualities such as high self-awareness, readiness for self-development and a positive attitude would be an advantage.
The project offers the opportunity to help others and make new friends and allows volunteers to develop their skills. Participants will gain experience in working with people, take part in training developed by the Scottish Recovery Network, and, at the same time, improve their interpersonal skills.
How to apply
Anyone interested in becoming a peer support volunteer can apply by completing the form below and sending it to marlena.mkony@feniks.org.uk.
